TYPES OF DATA PROCESSED

We have reviewed and apply the Provision of the Italian Data Protection Authority (“Garante per la Protezione dei dati personali”) titled “Identification of simplified methods for the information and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies” of May 8, 2014 – [web doc. no. 3118884] (Published in the Official Gazette no. 126 of June 3, 2014).

Cookies are small text files that the websites visited by the user send and record on the latter’s computer or mobile device, to be then retransmitted to the same sites on the next visit. Thanks to cookies, the site remembers the user’s actions and preferences (such as, for example, login data, preferred language, font size, other display settings, etc.) so that they do not have to be indicated again when the user returns to visit the same site or navigates from one page to another on it. Cookies, therefore, are fundamentally used to perform computer authentications, session monitoring, and storage of information regarding the activities of users accessing a site, and they may also contain a unique identification code that allows tracking of the user’s navigation within the site itself. While navigating a site, the user may also receive cookies on their computer or mobile device from sites or web servers other than the one they are visiting (so-called “third-party” cookies). Some operations could not be carried out without the use of cookies, which in some cases are therefore technically necessary for the site’s own operation.

There are various types of cookies, which can be summarized in the following table:

  • Technical cookies, namely navigation or session cookies, which are strictly necessary for the site to function or to allow the user to benefit from the content and services requested by them.
  • Analytics cookies, which allow us to understand how the site is used by users. With these cookies, no information on the user’s identity or any personal data is collected. The information is processed in aggregate and anonymous form.
  • Functionality cookies, which are used to activate specific site functionalities and a series of selected criteria (for example, the language, the products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided.
  • Third-party cookies, which are cookies from sites or web servers other than the one hosting this site, used for the third parties’ own purposes.
  • Profiling cookies, including third-party ones, which are cookies aimed at creating user profiles and used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences shown by the user during their web navigation.

It is processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the personal data, including protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage, using appropriate technical or organisational measures («integrity and confidentiality»).

CONDITIONS FOR CONSENT

The consent shall be withdrawn as easily as it is given.

The processing of a child’s personal data is lawful where the child is at least 16 years old.
